Blutkorps
“ | I see young men, my townsmen, whose misfortune it is to have inherited farms, houses, barns, cattle, and farming tools; for these are more easily acquired than got rid of. Better if they had been born in the open pasture and suckled by a wolf, that they might have seen with clearer eyes what field they were called to labor in. Who made them serfs of the soil? Why should they eat their sixty acres, when man is condemned to eat only his peck of dirt? Why should they begin digging their graves as soon as they are born? | ” |

The Blutkorps (Solar English: Blood Corps) are a loosely organized paramilitary organisation in the Solar System that is focused upon "The Social and Ecological Restoration" of Earth, through any means necessary. Although generally agreed upon to be "ecofascist", the Blutkorps are in reality a coalition of traditionalists, environmentalists, hooligans, and actual fascists that are all unsatisfied with the current state of Earth. Direct action is favored by the Blutkorps against the ones most responsible for the Earth's current state: the corporations and the government. The Blutkorps have had various rises and falls throughout the years, but they have persisted through the centuries with their desire to restore nature on Earth, a mad romantic dream.
History[edit | edit source]
Birth in Defeat[edit | edit source]
The Blutkorps were born out the confusion and anger that followed the aftermath of the Commonwealth of Earth's losses at the hands of Zhu Que and Eden as well as the devastating wars within the Solar System. Earthers were exhausted by years of war, and they felt as if all their efforts had been for nothing. That and unemployment left many Earther veterans extremely alienated, seeing that the Commonwealth had been unable to enforce Earth's primacy over mankind. This was the situation all over Earth at the time, and it was in this time that the Blutkorps came into existence.
It is unknown who exactly founded Blutkorps, but the first instances of them acting publicly was in the Pillar of Hope arcology around 3750, rallying support for terraforming efforts on Earth. The name was supposed to reflect one of the group's principle desires: blood and soil. This more peaceful form of the Blutkorps soon became violent when they began to attack corporations devoted to waste disposal on Earth. This, along with their stated ecofascist ideals, led to the Blutkorps being banned in the Pillar of Hope by 3800. However, that did not stop the spread of the Blutkorps across several of the arcologies. The 3800s were a transformative time for the Blutkorps, and the group managed to gain some degree of legitimacy. The Blutkorps gained significant footholds in Pyotr I and Novo Brasil, and these groups kept close ties with the original organisation in the Pillar of Hope.
The World Union of the Blutkorps first met in 3811 in Novo Brasil, and it would meet there annually for the next fifteen years. In that time, Thomas Koerich, a Kommandant from Novo Brasil, began gaining increasing clout within the World Union. His combination of glamour and sexual charisma attracted many followers within the Blutkorps, and he had effectively become their public face by 3815. Following a power struggle within the Blutkorps, Koerich would become the first Uberkommandant (overall commander) of the entire group.
Uberkommandant Koerich used his newfound clout over the entire organisation to try to transform the Blutkorps into a more legitimate political force. Koerich mostly did this by operating on a strict principle of non-violence with an exception for self-defense and frequent public demonstrations. Koerich also established Blood of the Soil as a publication to spread the ideas of the Bludkorps. This new strategy angered a large minority within the Blutkorps, but it did work to improve the Blutkorps' public image. Soon enough, the Blutkorps had established presences in further arcologies and attracted further controversy as some of the Bludkorps reverted back to terrorism against Koerich's wishes.
Luckily for the Blutkorps, Uberkommandant Koerich managed to bring his people back under control, and later in 3821, the Blutkorps organised a massive march in Pyotr I. The ecofascists wanted to become a legitimate force within Earther politics, and they saw the Commonwealth Senate as an avenue for change. Uberkommandant Koerich ran for a Senate seat as the Blutkorps' standardbearer but was repeatedly unable to gain any real traction.
On August 25, 3827, while leaving a laundromat in Pyotr I, an assassin, hiding on the roof of the building, fired two bullets towards Koerich. One missed, the other hit his chest and ruptured his heart. The Uberkommandant was thrown back against the ground, and Koerich staggered towards the laundromat door, stood briefly while pointing upward at the building's rooftop where the shots had come from, and then collapsed on the ground. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The assassin was found to be a former member of the Blutkorps who held a grudge against Koerich for his more peaceful political approach.
Infighting and Organisation[edit | edit source]
After the assassination of their first and only overall leader, the Blutkorps effectively fell apart. None of the Kommandants under Koerich could agree who would be the next Uberkommandant, and even Koerich’s body was fought over by his underlings. There were technically Uberkommandants after Koerich who headed the World Union, but none of them commanded the respect of all the Blutkorps like he did. In a few years, the World Union would stop meeting altogether.
Without Koerich’s direction, much of the Blutkorps slipped back into terrorism, and attacks on waste disposal corporations increased greatly. This led to the group being banned in all arcologies except Novo Brasil and Pyotr I by 3900. In that time, the Blutkorps would focus more on establishing compounds in wasteland away from the prying eyes of the arcologies.
The Blutkorps committed its first off-world attack when an Earther immigrant to Mars from Freeland suicide bombed a waste disposal ship bound to Earth in the name of the Blutkorps. This caused something of an interstellar incident that led to a crackdown on Bludkorps on Mars and Earth. The Martian Federal Police especially cracked down on the clandestine Blutkorps operating within the Earther immigrant community on Mars.
As the Blutkorps began more persecuted in the arcologies, they forged further into the wasteland. The Blutkorps in the Pillar or Hope especially colonised parts of Eastern Europe in cooperation with the cells from Pyotr I. Little compounds in the wasteland became setups for weapons platforms to shoot down waste disposal ships and other perceived hazards to Earth’s environment. These compounds in the mid 3900s were frequent targets for the Interstellar Police Force, and the Blutkorps in Eastern Europe were suppressed. The only cells of the Blutkorps that grew in this long period of suppression were in Novo Brasil and Pyotr I.
New Instability[edit | edit source]
Things began looking up for the Blutkorps again around 3989 when Xin Xiwang effectively seized control of the Commonwealth from New Manhattan. The Blutkorps found fertile ground in the unemployed workers meant to build Neo Gettysburg across the North American arcologies. However, many of Kommandants in charge of the Blutkorps actually think of the new Xin Xiwang regime in positive terms. This is mostly because of the new regime's stance of Earth exceptionalism, skepticism towards interstellar corporations, and increased focus on the acquisition of terraforming technology.
The shared ideals between the Xin Xiwang regime and the Blutkorps eventually led to contact between the two groups. One of the better aspects of the two groups' relationship was because they more or less had no conflict of interest with one another. The Blutkorps had no influence in the Chinese arcologies that made up Xin Xiwang's powerbase, and so it was mutual beneficial for both parties to cooperate on some level. Many cells of Blutkorps became more active in their arcologies, and most Kommandants attempted to steer their image away from terrorism once again. Meanwhile, the Blutkorps in Novo Brasil and Pyotr I openly threw their lots in with the Xin Xiwang regime and have urged others to follow suit. The only large cell of the Blutkorps not to do this is the one in the Pillar of Hope, who claim not to trust Xin Xiwang. It is unknown exactly why this Blutkorps in particular is in dissent, but there are whispers that they are funded by ALIAS and are in the pocket of Mars.
Currently, the Blutkorps overall seem on the up and up with membership increasing and their image getting progressively better. There have not been any known terror attacks from the Blutkorps in over twenty years, so their claims of nonviolence are becoming more believable. The Blutkorps' Kommandants hope to reunite the World Union and become a legitimate political force for the first time. Notable modern Kommandants include Andrey "Gunner" Petrov from Pyotr I, Samed al-Hayedi, the notorious white sharia cleric from the Pillar of Hope, and Cibaldo Brandt from Novo Brasil.
Culture/Ideology[edit | edit source]
There are few unifying aspects to the scattered factions of the Blutkorps, but there are some things that bring them all together. The Blutkorps all idealize Earth's verdant past, desire regime change to bring about ecological reform, and dream of a pre-Climate Crisis Earth come again. A general theme of traditionalism and other older ideologies is also usually present but is not universal. There is a strain of German culture that pervades the organisation that is reflected in the Blutkorps' ranks and their leadership, who are often from the German diaspora. However, the Blutkorps are technically open to all Earthers, and the group's similarities to previous fascist movements are usually forgotten by most who are not familiar with the history of the 20th century.
The Blutkorps are by no means unified and split roughly into four different internal factions. First, there is Christkorps who are Christianislam traditionalists who put a heavy emphasis on Earth being God’s creation. This group is most prominent in Pyotr I and Novo Brasil. Then there are Earthkorps, who are typically less violent than other parts of Blutkorps and emphasize forms of environmentalism to try to restore Earth’s devastated ecosystem. This group is more spread out across the arcologies. Kriegkorps are the most well-known and violent faction, dedicated to direction action for change. This group is most common in Pillar of Hope and Independence. Pankorps are paganists or "spiritualists" who feel that their faith requires them to restore the Earth to its past glory to please the gods, with this group only really being common in Pillar of Hope.
The Blutkorps’ favorite targets are waste disposal corporations, who they see as actively worsening the Earth’s already barren environment. They target these corporations mostly by attacks and sabotage on their ships while in space or before landing on Earth. The Blutkorps utilize rocket launchers most of the time to shoot down waste disposal ships. They also sometimes attack government assets of the arcologies and groups on the opposite side of the political spectrum. These violent actions were much more common in past.
Influence[edit | edit source]
The Blutkorps have the strongest influence on Earth itself within the various arcologies. They have a particularly strong pull in Pillar of Hope, Pyotr I, and Novo Brasil with weaker influence in Independence, Freeland, and New Manhattan. The Blutkorps within the arcologies act as political party, secret society, and militia all at once. Since they are not allowed to act directly as a political force, the Blutkorps usually act in tandem with sympathetic political parties as street thugs and muscle. This kind of behavior is most common in Pyotr I and Novo Brasil. The terroristic actions taken by the Blutkorps in the arcologies have been universally condemned by all, but they still retain their influence because of their cessation of violence for last twenty years or so.
Outside of the arcologies, there are also Blutkorps (most of whom originate from the arcologies). There are several secluded Bludkorps compounds located across Earth's wasteland, and there are rumors of a massive Blutkorps training complex within the Carpathian Mountains. The Blutkorps revel in the wasteland, as many of them feel that the wasteland is one of the last parts of nature left on Earth. To some, even this desolation seems much better than the "guilded cage" of the arcologies. To most Blutkorps though, they just enjoy being back in "the wild", as toxic as it may be now.
Outside of Earth, there are a few cells of Blutkorps that are mostly cultivated through the Web. Usually, these off-world Blutkorps are usually urged to either "return" to Earth or to make lone wolf attacks against waste disposal corporations. This used to be much more common but have tapered off significantly in the last fifty years.
