Argonaut Incorporated, often referred to simply as Argonaut, is a technology conglomerate with a monopoly on multiple web systems and services (search engines, telecommunications, maps, social media, video hosting, etc.) as well as cloning and artificial intelligence, with its drones and robots being highly recognised across governed space for their high user friendliness and playful demeanour.
It was founded in 3667 following the repeal of the IGSA/INTPOL-enforced ban on artificial intelligence (see ATLAS) from a merger of two ambitious "near-AI" developers - Speculative Advanced Large Language Models LLC. and Trojan Intel Ltd. - who leapt at the chance to nakedly pursue their ideals and combined assets to provide the necessary amount of capital.
Following the Five Hour War of 3989, which saw Xin Xiwang and Argonaut replace New Manhattan and Axil Industries as the leaders of the Commonwealth of Earth, Argonaut now ranks as the largest company in Governed Space by revenue.
Argo- brand subsidiaries include Argonews, a news service regarded as the benchmark for impartial reporting. Other key subsidiaries include MediaApe, the Solar System's largest social media network, and Monkee, a MediaApe subsidiary that offers data mining solutions and sells data collected across Argonaut platforms.
